History of The EPSILON NU Chapter of Omega Psi Phi
For over 111 years, one predominantly African American fraternity has been a beacon of light for many men. It has grown strong in conviction and purpose and large in numbers. Founded in the U.S. capital of our great nation on one of the most prestigious Historically Black Universities in the U.S.
The name of this great fraternity, you might ask…well, it is Omega Psi Phi, of course! From the very birth of Omega, expansion has been at the forefront. The men of Omega Psi Phi have shared the message of brotherhood and service to each other, our families, and our communities since the beginning. One branch of that tree has also grown and sprouted leaves of distinction among the ranks of Omega.
One important correction: “Historically Black Universities” would be better written as “Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).” Also, the sentence beginning “Founded in the U.S. capital…” is technically a sentence fragment. As Basileus, I am honored to lead a chapter dedicated to excellence in leadership, service, and community impact. Guided by our four Cardinal Principles of Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift, we remain committed to serving the Spartanburg community through our many programs with a focus on mentoring, especially the young men of our community, through our award-winning “Bridge Builders” mentoring program.
